The Z NYC Hotel, known for its incomparable views of the Manhattan skyline, offers a unique take on the contemporary hotel. Located in the heart of the arts district in Long Island City, Queens, the Z NYC Hotel has made its home among hundreds of art lofts, film studios, museums and galleries including MoMA PS1, Museum of Moving Image, Noguchi Museum, and the iconic Silvercup Studios.
Paying homage to its creative neighborhood, the Z NYC Hotel is proudly launching a rotating art program. The program celebrates prominent and up-and-coming local artists by displaying their work in the hotel’s new subterranean Z Gallery. The Z Gallery is currently showcasing a diverse and exciting collection of work by four impressive artists including Tom Matt, Oscar Maxera, Julian Lesser and Rafael O. Gonzalez. The art program is open for hotel guests and visitors alike to enjoy seven days a week, day or night, while sipping on cocktails or simply relaxing in style in the Z Lounge. All of the displayed art is available for purchase.
Oscar Maxera was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After he finished his academic studies, he went through an early period of figurative style. Soon after, he came into contact with the latest trends and innovations of Modern Art, particularly of those introduced by the great masters of geometry. He later developed their contributions and added his own. This new starting point drove him into changing techniques as well as means of expressions, thus devoting himself to a profound analysis of color used to express subtle relationships through finely outlined geometric shapes.

Tom Matt finds inspiration on a daily basis all around him along city streets and avenues and through the people he meets. His art is representational with an emphasis on cityscapes of both NY and Paris, that includes portraiture. Each one allows for a unique and varying expression in style, concept and technique.

Julian Lesser, born and raised in New York, received his BFA from New Paltz University with a concentration in painting. It was there that Lesser found his true voice and ability to capture his mind, consciousness and personality in the tangible form of paintings.
